Why would I need to take out travel insurance? My medical costs are already covered with the AZPAS Insurance, aren’t they?

Taking out travel insurance is recommended in case you unexpectedly fall ill are get involved in an accident abroad. The local AZPAS health care insurance only covers medical expenses for health care in Suriname.

Also, all travellers who require a visa for Europe (the Netherlands or any other Schengen country), is required to take out health insurance based on European regulations (the so-called MVV/Schengen visa).
